Ojibway is a wonderful place to paint year round.
Painting at Ojibway always means no matter the weather we can run for cover in the Nature Centre. You can also sketch indoors if there are no tours. There are some restrictions, there must be no “trip hazards.” Therefore, no easels or equipment on the floor. You can bring in a chair to sit on. We suggest that you treat this as a sketching opportunity rather than a full fledged painting event. Bring sketchbooks, coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, and anything that you can safely confine to your lap. They do have a sitting area that looks out at bird feeders, a pond, and the woods.
Of course, if you wish to work outside you may bring all your gear. The washrooms are available. Painting outside at Ojibway is always so exciting. You will most likely see deer. I’ve had a chickadee come visit me and sit on my easel. Some people bring bird seed, and feed them out of their hand. It does not get better than that. If you paint in the woods you will usually be sheltered from the wind.
