Weather: http://www.timeanddate.com/weather/canada/windsor/hourly

Meeting Time between: 9:30 A.M. & 10:00 A.M. until ?
Weather will be VERY cold!
You might want to bring a sketchbook in case drawing/painting time is short. If painting inside they do not open until 10:00
It’s VERY cold layer up!

It is suggested that if you have a cell phone you may want to exchange phone numbers with each other.  Many times when we are at Ojibway it’s hard to find other artists because the park is big.  We all don’t arrive at the same time.  Having a cell phone to locate me might be a good idea.  To send me your phone number and get my phone number please email paintpleinair (at) g mail (dot) com with phone number as your subject please.

Camera (cell phone is a good choice)
Folding chair Note: To keep your body warm keep moving. It is safer to stand.
Plein Air easel and/or
Plein air pochade box
Drawing board
Paint and drawing supplies of your choice

Winter Notes:
Winter painting is not for the unprepared.  For your personal comfort dress in layers. Take care of exposed skin. Snow and sun are dangerous for your eyes wear sunglasses, and a brimmed hat. Sun can reflect off your painting and cause sunburn even in the winter. Use sunscreen. Buy hand and toe warmers at Canadian Tire.
Your equipment:  Watercolour will freeze, you may wish to use alcohol instead of water.
If acrylics freeze it will ruin them. Take care to keep your tubes from freezing.
Water soluble oils, using solvent is your best bet in this weather. You can still wash your brushes with soap and water when you get home. I do not recommend the use of salt to keep your water from freezing, your water will still freeze. Salt will change the chemistry of your paint, and could have an adverse affect on the integrity of the paint over time.

Quite often the nature centre has groups of children inside.  We never know what will be happening until we get there.  If we can sketch indoors there are some restrictions. There can be no “trip hazards.” Therefore, no easels or equipment on the floor. You can bring in a chair to sit on. They do have a sitting area that looks out at bird feeders, a pond, and the woods.

If you are painting inside the Nature Centre, we suggest that you treat this as a sketching opportunity and not a full-fledged painting event. Bring sketchbooks, coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, and anything that you can safely confine to your lap.

Of course, if you wish to work outside you may bring all your gear. The washrooms are available.
