General Guidelines

  • The festival goes ahead rain or shine! In case of inclement weather, we will endeavour to move all demonstrators and their items into one of our historic buildings for the duration of the event.
  • Please bring along your own table(s) and lawn chair. You are also welcome to bring your own shade canopy, etc. if you wish.
  • While we will endeavour to accommodate as many demonstration site requests as possible, demonstrator spaces will be assigned on a “first-reply” basis
  • We ask that you provide some element of demonstration of your craft throughout the day. If your craft is something you can’t demonstrate on-site, please consider bringing along samples of the stages of your work, so you can show/explain the process to interested visitors.
  • Hands-on elements of demonstration for the public to try are strongly encouraged!
  • Lunch is available for purchase on-site; you are welcome to bring your own lunch items, as well. We do provide one complimentary refreshment ticket to each demonstrator, which can be redeemed at the Road Chef food truck, as a token of our thanks for your participation.
  • You may bring someone along to help you staff your booth.
  • As we are a historic site with significant wooden structures, please note that smoking is only permitted in the parking lot.
  • You are welcome to vend any of your wares to the visiting public. There is no vendor’s fee.
  • All items displayed and sold must be hand-made by you (not commercially produced)!

Elizabeth regrets that she will be unable to attend this event. She will be competing in the Paint Dexter event in Michigan. It is her hope you will have a wonderful day. This event has always proved to be well attended.

At Ojibway we have the option of sketching indoors. So depending upon the weather you may paint outdoors, or sketch indoors.

However, we will not know if we can sketch inside until we get there, so don’t count on being able to do that. If there are tours we will be underfoot as sometimes they do scavenger hunts inside the nature centre.

There are some restrictions if you paint indoors.  There might be tours going though the exhibit area.  Please no trip hazards at your feet.  Therefore, no easels or equipment on the floor.  You may bring in a chair to sit on.  We suggest that you treat this as an indoor sketching opportunity.   Bring sketchbooks, coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, and anything that you can safely confine to your lap.

Of course, if you wish to work outside you may bring all your gear. The washrooms will be available.
